“No Power, No Thrust”: Air India Pilot’s Final 5-Second Emergency Call Revealed

Two days after the June 12 crash of an Air India aircraft in Ahmedabad, the final emergency call made by the crew has surfaced. In the newly released audio, veteran captain Sumit Sabharwal can be heard radioing Ahmedabad Air Traffic Control just moments after takeoff:
“Mayday, Mayday, Mayday, no power, no thrust, we’re going down.”

👉 The ill-fated Air India flight AI171, operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, had taken off from Ahmedabad around 1:30 PM local time, en route to London Gatwick Airport. The aircraft was carrying 230 passengers, 10 cabin crew members, and 2 pilots — a total of 242 people onboard.

ℹ️ Mayday is an internationally recognized distress call used in aviation to signal a life-threatening emergency. It is repeated three times — “Mayday, Mayday, Mayday” — and signifies a request for immediate and prioritized assistance from all control units.
